Lustro Is a Must, Yo

Danielle Bisbano - Thursday, May 09, 2013

I actually believe that if Beautycounter didn’t have a facial oil in their line I would have been like, eh, how smart can they really be?  Don’t they know how amazing facial oils are???  Well, it turns out they are pretty smart.  Not only do they have one, they have three!

I am going to take these one at a time and I want to start with Lustro Face Oil 2, a.k.a. Jasmine.  Wow does this stuff smell heavenly.  For those of you who have never used facial oils, you really don’t know what you are missing.  I have been a huge fan of them for a very long time.  There is a reason for that.  They are awesome.  They work for everyone and they make your skin just glow.  Not glow like shiny and greasy glow.  Glow like nourished and pampered glow.  Your skin just soaks up all the nutrition in the oils and leaves behind one really happy, well-nourished mug.

And for all of you oily skinned and acne-prone people out there (like me!) that are thinking this is not for you.  Not true.  A facial oil is probably one of the best things you can put on your face.  When you use typical acne products you are drying out your skin.  The signal your dried out skin gives your face is to produce more oil.  When you give it the right kind of oil instead, your skin can chill out.

The Lustro Face Oil 2 is great for everyone. Beautycounter recommends it especially for aging skin but even my blemish-prone skin loves it. Sensitive skin is going to adore this stuff, too.  Applying it to your skin is like giving your face a hug.  FYI, your face likes hugs.  Trust me.

CNN Headline News interview with NuRoo!

Danielle Bisbano - Monday, January 07, 2013

I had a wonderful opportunity to work with some really awesome women today.  Hope and Daniela are two Rhode Islanders who have launched an innovative new product, the NuRoo Pocket, which provides a convenient way for moms to provide beneficial skin-to-skin contact with their little ones.  The concept is fascinating to me and you bet there is a boatload of research to back up the benefits to both mom and baby.  You can read more about this amazing product on their website.

Hope and Daniela were interviewed tonight by Vinny Polito from CNN Headline News.  I had the privilege of doing their makeup for the interview.  This is a picture from right before they went live (in front of all of those bright lights!).  You can see the actual interview here.

I hope you will check out their site and look for the NuRoo Pocket at Babies’R’Us; online in January 2013 and in stores in February 2013.  And the next time you need a baby shower gift, skip the onesies and get a gift that will actually improve the health of mom and baby while supporting small business at the same time.  It’s a no-brainer!

Hope and Daniela were a joy to work with and I am so grateful for the many ways that my makeup kit brings me into the lives and dreams of so many people and at such important moments in their lives.  Wishing NuRoo all the success in the world!

Beauty and the Budget

Danielle Bisbano - Saturday, January 01, 2011

In my daily struggle to NOT buy more makeup that I don’t really need, I have stumbled across some really great buys.

I’m a sucker for quality and I have expensive taste.  That being said, money does not grow on trees so I am always on the lookout for effective, high-quality cosmetics that are reasonably priced.  This is a venture that, in and of itself, can be pricey because of the very trial and error nature of it.  But I ask you, why should you have to go through all of that?  Knowledge should be shared and I love to share!  Here are just a few products that I think you’ll really like and that won’t make you go broke!

First things first.  Inglot.  I have not bought a thing from them that I did not absolutely love.  The quality is amazing, the colors are brilliant and the price point is remarkably low.  My favorites are the Freedom System items that I can pop into an empty magnetic Z Palette.  With prices like $5.00 for an eye shadow and $4.00 for a lipstick, how can you go wrong?  My biggest gripe with them is the lack of descriptions of ANYTHING on their site.  It’s a little maddening.  Despite that, I have managed to make several purchases that I am very happy with.  I have since “met” Hayden from the Chelsea store.  He is in charge of all the social media for Inglot and is a wealth of information and just a pleasure to talk to.  He is happy to provide any information that you need about the products on the site.  You can reach him by phone at 212.672.7124, email at socialmedia@inglotusa.com or ask him via Twitter or Facebook.  I just love this line!

NYX is all or nothing for me.  Some of their products I adore and some are total junk (sorry, but true!)  One item that is a consistent performer is their Slim Lip Pencil.  I love the consistency and there are a ton of colors to choose from.  They are long-wearing and, especially if you get them from Beauty Joint, are dirt cheap at $2.39 a pop.

Okay, one more (for now).  Crown Brush.  Yes, they sell mostly makeup brushes but tools are important and theirs are cruelty-free, high quality and very reasonable.  They also sell makeup palettes.  I have to confess, I bought a few eye shadow palettes and a lipstick palette from Haute Look with the intention of just using them just to “play” with but I was pleasantly surprised with the pigment concentration and staying power.  Again, very reasonably priced items.

So there you have it.  Now go have some fun.
